Black Funeral was
founded in 1993 by Akhtya Nachttoter with the aim of creating
cold, haunting black metal with themes of vampirism, Luciferianism,
Satanism and the Left Hand Path ritual practice in general.
The band recorded several demos and soon issued their
debut in 2005, "Vampyr Throne of the Beast".
Black Funeral began
as a seminal black metal band in the early 1990's. Formed
by Michael Ford, the band quickly became known for their
cold and raw productions, aggressive attitude and focus
on vampirism. "Empire of Blood" followed in
1997 and then "Moon of Characith" in 1998, demonstrating
a complete ritualistic and black ambient atmosphere.
Black Funeral recorded
"Belial Arisen" in 1996 before releasing other
ritualistic recordings. "Belial Arisen", which
is reminding of early Emperor, Bathory and Mayhem, was
a cold and very raw recording focused on the blood rites
of Bathory and the demonic sorceries practiced by Coven
Nachttoter, an extension of a black magical guild founded
by Michael Ford.
In 2003 Black Funeral
decided to continue, while not in a live situation, but
in a new presentation of Sonic Black Magick. Behemoth
Productions from Italy has released now worldwide "BELIAL
ARISEN", the last pure black metal recording from
the band to the masses. An Ensorcelment of Sound, the
vampyric essence is being unearthed again from its grave.
"Az-i-Dahak" was recorded after "Belial
Arisen" and was one of the most experimental albums
next to "Moon of Characith". "Ordog"
was recorded and was more chaotic than "Az-i-Dahak".
In 2007 Dan of
Vrolok worked with Akhtya on a new Black Funeral album
on the Qlippoth and workings based from LIBER HVHI - Magick
of the Adversary and more. "Waters of Weeping"
is considered by Akhtya to be one of the best Black Funeral
recordings. "Waters of Weeping" presents the
cold and ancient aspects of black metal with the experimental
darkness of Hellhammer and even Thorns. Soon after Dan
went back to the cult band VROLOK and continued creating
darkness...
Marchozelos of
Grauen Pestanz joined Black Funeral in 2008 and the band
has been stronger than ever.
In late 2009 and
2010 Black Funeral is moving forward with new albums and
projects which will further establish and refocus the
band as a force of the abyss, the very manifestation of
vampyric darkness. The band has returned with VUKOLAK
and has recorded a split CD with Grauen Pestanz. Black
Funeral also still records experimental musick, "Abomination
Storm", one of the darkest and most chaos-inspired
Black - Industrial Metal records will be released when
it is possible. Black Funeral while are recording their
Vampyric Black Metal Khaos sound are also "Remixing"
other Black Metal bands, specifically with ghostlike soundscapes,
ritual droning and human bones.
